What is
Krishnamurti Paddhati?
Explore the stellar astrology method through its central ideas: the house cusp, the Star Lord and the Sub Lord.
Krishnamurti Paddhati, usually called KP astrology, is an approach to Indian astrology developed by K. S. Krishnamurti. It focuses on Nakshatras and their subdivisions, together with the positions of house cusps, when interpreting a horoscope.
From signs to Sub Lords
The zodiac contains twelve signs and twenty-seven Nakshatras. KP further divides each Nakshatra into nine unequal parts in proportion to the Vimshottari dasha periods. The ruler of a subdivision is called its Sub Lord.
The guide to Sub Lords explains how the sign, Star Lord and Sub Lord are considered together. The schematic below introduces those layers; it represents a concept rather than a calculated horoscope.
Sub Lord · The finer subdivision
Start with the house cusp
A house cusp marks a boundary used in dividing a chart into houses. KP uses the Placidus house system, in which houses can have unequal spans. Read The Role of Cusps in KP Astrology to explore how their positions enter an interpretation.
Study, then practise
The beginner course moves from these foundations to reading planetary tables, identifying significators and working through practical chart examples. You can also browse the articles and follow a topic at your own pace.
